I saw this protester in a crowd on Fox News the other day with a sign that said, "Fascism cannot be defeated by debate," and it got me thinking — why on earth not? Since Saturday, leftists have been having delusions of grandeur imagining themselves storming the beaches of Normandy to punch Hitler in the face. But this is America. Nazis are not marching through your backyard the way they marched through Poland, and until they do, you HAVE to defeat them through debate.
So why can't the left do it?
On the right, we can talk about the value of individuals regardless of race and equality before the law. The left can't do that with credibility because it has no cohesive ideology behind it other than identity politics.
Here's a perfect example: several Universities are now having "black only" graduations, and the left has absolutely no problem with this. But can you imagine the outrage if any university had a "whites only" graduation? Conservatives would find both these ideas equally repulsive because we believe everyone should be treated equally. The left would only find the latter repulsive because black = good and white = bad.

And this is the real danger when it comes to real white supremacy in America. The left has no intellectual argument against it, so instead they use physical violence and various forms of censorship to "de-platform" racist people rather than debunking their ideas. And this won't work. Ideas, good and bad, have a way of gaining strength when you try to censor them, and until that stops, the "alt-right," and White Nationalism will continue to go unchallenged by the left, who have no intellectual way of defeating them.
